USA Hockey Requirement

All coaches and volunteers must register with USA Hockey each season.  and then return to this registration.

  • Step 1:  CLICK HERE to go to USA Hockey Registration and register as a coach.  Be sure to PRINT and SAVE your confirmation code.
  • Step 2:  Return to this page and proceed with the  registration.  Later in this registration you will need to enter the USA Hockey Confirmation Code that you received in Step 1.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

SAFESPORT

Volunteers with USA Hockey are required to complete SafeSport training every year.  Please click the following link, complete the SafeSport Training, obtain the SafeSport Trained Certificate, and upload the certificate below before moving on.

If you completed  the core Safe Sport course last season, complete the Refresher Course instead to re-certify for an additional season and upload the Refresher certificate below (no need to upload the original core Safe Sport course certificate in this case).

Beginning in mid-2023, SafeSport may not automatically send your SafeSport completion certificate. If this occurs, you will need to reach out to them to request a certificate of completion. Request a certificate of completion here.

BACKGROUND CHECK

Background screening is conducted by USA Hockey's national background screen vendor, NCSI.

All new screens submitted through the new NCSI national screening program will be valid for two seasons.  For example, a screen submitted and approved on May 15, 2022 will be valid through the end of the 2023-24 season, which is August 31, 2024.

A receipt documenting payment for your current background check must be uploaded in your coaching application.

CEP LEVEL CERTIFICATION

All coaches must enter USA Hockey’s Coaching Education Program at Level 1, and must continue their education with a coaching clinic each year until, at a minimum, they achieve Level 3. EXCEPTION: Coaches of 8U or younger players may remain at Level 1 or their current level. A coach may attend only one (1) certification clinic per year (not including age-specific requirements). Coaches who do not coach in continuous years must re-enter the program at the next level when they resume coaching responsibilities. Once Level 3 is achieved, periodic renewal is required for coaches who have not achieved Level 4 Coaches who attain Level 4 certification are not required to attend any further certification clinics but must adhere to the age-specific requirement. Must be done by January | http://www.usahockey.com/coachingclinics  | Link to check your status -> Login and navigate to 'My Profile > Coaching Information'
